John ‘Lono’ Lonergan started Milskil over 20 years ago, after a career in the RAAF so that he could continue to train the next generation of warfighters. John’s vision for Milskil has been unwavering from the beginning; to be the benchmark for the provision of quality, integrated, and specialist solutions that support, develop and fast-track operational capability.
John is a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) fighter pilot and fighter weapons instructor. He started his fighter pilot career on the Dassault Mirage III before moving to the F/A-18A Hornet where John qualified as a Fighter Combat Instructor (FCI). Following the FCI course he had instructional postings on the F/A-18 and with the USAF as an exchange F16-C instructor and Weapon’s Officer at Luke AFB Arizona. John returned to Australia and completed tours as an operational squadron FCI, flight Commander and finally Executive Officer. Post full-time service John spent several years flying on defence support contracts while also conducting lead-in fighter training as a reserve instructor for the RAAF.
