About Milskil

Our History

John ‘Lono’ Lonergan started Milskil over 20 years ago, after a career in the RAAF so that he could continue to train the next generation of warfighters. John’s vision for Milskil has been unwavering from the beginning; to be the benchmark for the provision of quality, integrated, and specialist solutions that support, develop and fast-track operational capability.

John is a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) fighter pilot and fighter weapons instructor. He started his fighter pilot career on the Dassault Mirage III before moving to the F/A-18A Hornet where John qualified as a Fighter Combat Instructor (FCI). Following the FCI course he had instructional postings on the F/A-18 and with the USAF as an exchange F16-C instructor and Weapon’s Officer at Luke AFB Arizona. John returned to Australia and completed tours as an operational squadron FCI, flight Commander and finally Executive Officer. Post full-time service John spent several years flying on defence support contracts while also conducting lead-in fighter training as a reserve instructor for the RAAF.

Looking Forward

Drawing on his extensive experience and unprecedented exposure to air combat pilot training structures and systems, John Lonergan founded Milskil to evolve the operational training of Australia’s air combat pilots. In the early 2000s, Milskil began the F/A-18A Hornet simulator and academics training for RAAF students and operational aircrew.

Today, Milskil provides operational training support to RAAF aircrew, from operational conversion to high-end post-graduate courses. We also provide all the pre-deployment simulator training for current operations. We provide capability-building support to three platforms: the F35A Lightening II, F/A-18F Super Hornet and the EA-18G Growler – the entire spectrum in the air combat fast jets for the Royal Australian Air Force.

Milskil is unapologetically focused on the operational requirements defined by our clients. We have a unique insight into the capability that our client needs. We help build that capability.
